MEET THE ARTIST

Lee Holland

Introducing Lee Holland, featured artist from Junior Cute Little Dragons (07).

Lee Holland is a freelance Illustrator who creates cute digital stamps for colouring, card making and other crafting projects.

How long have you been illustrating and what made you start?
I have worked as an artist for over 20 years. I was an artist for an English enamels company for 12 years painting artwork such as Peter Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh. I then became a freelance illustrator where I have worked for many magazines, greeting cards and children's book publishers.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I live in a small town near some beautiful countryside in the West Midlands with my partner and two children. Living here has always inspired me to draw and paint.

Where is your favourite place to illustrate?
My favourite place to illustrate is in the countryside with my pencils and paper. Also, I have an iPad now so I go to my local coffee shop and draw in there for a couple of hours.

What are your illustrating/colouring material essentials?
I use Photoshop and Procreate the most but sometimes I will get out the paints and colouring pencils.

What’s the piece of work that you’re most proud of or enjoyed doing the most?
I don’t really have a favourite but I love creating cute characters.

Artist's tip

Keep colouring as much in your spare time and also to learn colour theory.
