Colors of the World Crayola skin tone crayons

Crayola have announced the launch of a new set of crayons – Colors of the World. The pack includes 24 newly formulated colours that represent 40 different skin tones. The aim is to represent the wide diversity of skin tones around the world.

Crayola partnered with Victor Casale, the co-founder and CEO of MOB beauty, to create this set of crayons. Crayola said: ‘with the Colors of the World crayons, we hope to cultivate a more inclusive world for children of all ages, races, cultures and ethnicities.’ The crayons are now available to preorder ready for release in July.

‘Inclusivity should be accessible for all ages and a discussion about diversity should be encouraged in order to foster a sense of belonging.’ Casale told Good Morning America. ‘Whether at home or in a classroom this collection gives children a greater opportunity to accurately represent themselves through creativity and self-expression.’

The announcement came perfectly timed in honour of United Nations’ World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Customers can submit their email address on the Crayola website to be informed when the crayons are available to purchase. There will also be a 32 set released with 8 classic shades chosen for hair and eyes.
