Have you ever wanted to make your own natural ink to experiment with your colouring pages or drawings? Featured artist Zoe Sadler is launching two amazing natural ink making workshops, and a three part digital series, helping you transform foraged berries into beautiful and versatile ink you can use for colouring and illustration.
Zoe Sadler, who is featured in our new Colouring Heaven Christmas Special, is holding her incredible natural ink making workshops in person in her Isle of Wight studio. You’ll learn every step of the process, beginning with a foraging walk, learning how to prepare and process plants to make ink, and even some time to experiment with your homemade ink.
You can choose to attend a day-long botanical ink making workshop for an early bird price of £95, which runs from 10.30am to 5pm. You can choose either 30th October or 13th November for this workshop.
Alternatively, you can opt for an evening workshop introducing you to the creation of Indian ink, which runs from 6pm to 8pm on either 20th October or 27th October. This workshop is £45.
While we now all suddenly wish we could hop on a boat to explore the Isle of Wight with Zoe and make our own homemade ink, for those of us who can’t be there in person, Zoe has shared a little preview on her Facebook page.
You can watch her forage for ink supplies, transform the supplies into ink, and experiment with them on paper. Even if you can’t attend the workshops, you’ll pick up so many amazing tips for creating and using ink.
And if you want to skip past the foraging and processing, you can buy a bottle of Zoe’s homemade ink on her website here. This unique ink may appear a deep purple, but it will dry on the page as a lovely blue, and has a shelf life of 3 months as long as it isn’t kept in direct sunlight. A 150ml bottle is just £12.
